St Andrew's Update Safeguarding Sunday 2025

Last Sunday, 16th November, was Safeguarding Sunday and the journey to church - if you were walking - was certainly chilly.  After all that rain we were given warning that a cold blanket of air from the North would push our milder temperatures down to single figures.   However, inside the church it was comfortably warmer.  We are now reaping the benefits of all that hard work in updating and making 'greener' our heating system.  In the 10am Parish Eucharist, Reverend Liz's homily used the readings for that day to good effect.  The 30th meeting of the parties to the United Nations (COP30) has been receiving much attention with all those dire warnings about the consequences of Climate Change which is now a reality and if not appropriately addressed all manner of global issues will worsen and this is already hitting the most vulnerable first. The talk is over; it is time to act.  Actions speak louder than words.  Things have fallen well short.  The biblical accounts are clear.  Do not find fault.  Work together.  Don't be idle.  We must be resilient.  There is always hope in God.  Like elsewhere, St Andrew's is offering safety, warmth and welcoming spaces. We try to nurture a culture of care.  This is all a shared responsibility and within the Eucharist we meet Christ as our Light and we are empowered by this.  Actions, not words.

At 12 noon, Holy Baptism took place for Elias and Alexander and we wish these two young people along with their families and friends God's Blessing.

This Saturday, 22nd November, from 10am to 12pm, there is Coffee Shop in the Chapter House whilst also offering 'warm spaces'.  Later, at 7pm, the Scouts and Guides will be putting on their Gang 'Show in a Day'!   Read the notices on the boards, to receive details of what this is all about. Prior to this, scouts will be seen about the place from 9am onwards in preparation for their finished product and consequently, we respectfully request that on this particular day, private prayer within the body of the church be omitted in the formal sense.  Tickets are available from:  https://dub.sh/siad25

On Sunday, 23rd November, there is 10am Parish Eucharist and Sunday School.

Here are some future dates:  26th November - St Andrew's School Saint Andrew's Day Services in church, 10am and 2pm.

28th November - 12 noon to 9:30pm Biggleswade Christmas Lights Switch On and Christmas Fair.
