Chrism Mass at the Cathedral
Chrism Mass will take place at the Cathedral, on Maundy Thursday, 6 April at 11.00 am. If you should be interested in attending this very special service during Holy Week, during which the holy oils are blessed and taken back to all parishes in the diocese, it may be
possible to offer spaces in our cars for the journey to St Albans. Please inform one of us, as soon as possible, if you hope to attend the Chrism Mass.
Maundy Thursday Watch of the Night.
On Maundy Thursday, following the service at 7:30pm, when we remember Jesus washing his disciples feet and sharing the Last Supper with them, there will be a “Watch of the Night” in church until midnight. Recalling how Jesus asked Peter, in the garden that night, “could you not stay awake with me one hour? Stay awake and pray” (Matthew 26:40-41); this is an opportunity for us to ‘watch and pray’ as we quietly reflect on this Holy night.
Please sign the list at the back of church so that we can ensure each half hour is covered by at least two or three people - but there is no maximum number.
Good Friday for Children.
During the afternoon Good Friday service we will be running activities in the chapter house as we remember the crucifixion of Christ. We will be building an Easter Garden ready for Easter Day, making Easter cards, eating hot cross buns and even taking part in an escape room! We start at 1.30pm - see you there.
